How do you think social media will change in the future? What other trends would you add to the mix? Are they any specific technologies that you think will gain popularity or emerge?

I think social media will change in the future by having more and more things you can do on the social media sites. Such as buying and selling product on Facebook and other social media sites. I believe if they made social media sites more open to whatever you wanted to do such as searching the internet and also get more and more company’s and brands that people know and use themselves on the social media sites. The treads I would add to social media itself is make more of a business page like for owners of business’s to use and not be linked to the general public. Reason for this is that they will be on a page of just business and they will bring more people to their shops and increase sales if the customers like their product but don’t have time to go in to the shop they can purchase their product online. Other treats that I would add to the mix are making a site that your kids can use so they are also not on the same site as the adults and make it very secure so that none of the adults can get on to their page. Also I would add parent monitoring options that they will get emails if their kids have post anything they should be concerned about. This would provide the kids that are on Facebook now to a safer more like their own social networking site. I believe that this would gain a lot of popularity in all of these added threads I would add the business page would because there is advertising and selling of product in one site and the site is just for that. The children’s social networking page would also because they get to go on their own page and interact with other children in their class or outside activity’s with parents not having to keep going on the site to see what they are up to, they will just get an email if they are posting anything to be concerned about.  

According to Malcom Gladwell, a well-known author in the area of social media, social media are built around weak ties and real social change can never come from loose networks of people that do not know each other. Do you think that social media has the potential to bring about real social change?

I believe that social media yes does have the potential to real change and there can be a social change in social media, reason is that now with social media there isn’t really a face to face social life anymore you need to talk to someone or get a hold of people as a young person you just would go on Facebook or some other social media site. When I walk down the street at any given time and see two people walking toward each other on their phones and then after I see them when they get closer and one of them say I was just about to Facebook you to see what way you are coming that is a real social change. I believe also that it also does have the potential for real change because when Facebook first came out and everyone started to use it there was no chat on it now there is a chat on the site of Facebook that shows another real change in social media. There is a lot of potential in real change in the social media sites especially with the technology that we have today in 2012, also the with the internet and how fast it is today. Also everywhere you look there are smart phone that often have those social media sites on them as a app so the access that one person has if they have one of those phone is a extensive amount. to conclude the post I truly think that the real changes are already happening there is a lot of employers that I know of off the top of my head that are using the social media sites to see what kind of person they are and for policing if you are wanting to become a police officer it will make or break you, meaning if you are using the sites for everything your communication skills might not be there because you might be not having face to face conversation and you need good skill in communication as a police officer. There are so much change that I have seen has happen and yes I truly believe if there is this much today years from now there will be a lot more.  

Social media has allowed everyday citizens to become authors, editors, and publishers of news and information. Do you believe that social media has increased the quality of news and information or decreased it?

 I believe that social media has increased the quality of news and other information. The reasons I believe this is because back years ago the only way that they received news was by word of mouth, by people talking to the people of their community on issues that have a rises. The other way they would get news or information on stuff that was happen would be written form or any other. Then people started getting computers and television which became the easiest was to get information out into the general public. Many people of the community's view the news of today though the internet, it is easy if you want to see the weather for the next couple days log on to your lap top or download a app on your smart phone. 

The other reason why I think that social media has increased is because everyone is on twitter and Facebook now a days and if there is a lot of ways on those sites news can be delivered without reading a paper or waiting till you get home from work to turn on your television to get caught up on the news of the day or what is happen all over the world. the other great thing is today you don’t have to be a journalist or work for different news companies with social media you can be an average Joe in the community and get the work out their though social media sites such as twitter and Facebook.

Now not only has the increase of social media affected the news and made it easier for people to get news it also has bought the newspaper business not that popular with the people of today’s society. With that being said the increase of social media on news is a huge improvement and easier for people today to get the latest news of their country and the world.              

What is your perception of social media, do you think it is a fad or the biggest shift since the Industrial Revolution?

My perception of social media is that it's a great tool to know what is going on in the world as well as in different careers and business, also great tool for people that are running business them self's to promote and gain customers though word of month which would come though social media. I personal do not think it is a fad i think it is the biggest thing now a days for everyone, not just the younger generation but the older as well. You my think older people? yeah but what i am meaning when i say this is facebook and grandma and grandpa live far away and want to see pictures of their grand kids all that has to be done is post on social media sites. I believe that social media will always be use and never die because of what it has turned into as well as free promotion for company's that are corporately owned as well as privately owned.
